Mayo Clinic in Arizona to Stop Treating Some Medicare Patients

 Backlash from Obamacare has begun:

Dec. 31 (Bloomberg) -- The Mayo Clinic, praised by President Barack Obama as a national model for efficient health care, will stop accepting Medicare patients as of tomorrow at one of its primary-care clinics in Arizona, saying the U.S. government pays too little.

More than 3,000 patients eligible for Medicare, the government’s largest health-insurance program, will be forced to pay cash if they want to continue seeing their doctors at a Mayo family clinic in Glendale, northwest of Phoenix, said Michael Yardley, a Mayo spokesman. The decision, which Yardley called a two-year pilot project, won’t affect other Mayo facilities in Arizona, Florida and Minnesota.

Doctors are now opting out of Medicare because the government simply pays too little and the direction that this administration is headed in certainly doesn't give much hope for improving the situation.

Minister: Obamacare kills African-American babies

Charges president has become 'the face of black genocide in America today'

A black minister who founded a website called BlackGenocide.org charges the Obama administration's health care reform legislation is designed to increase the number of abortions in the African-American community.

"It's sinister, but President Obama has become the face of black genocide in America today," said Rev. Clenard H. Childress Jr., senior pastor of the New Calvary Baptist Church in Montclair, N.J.

According to Childress, about 35 percent of the nearly 4,500 abortions performed each day in the U.S. are on African-Americans, even though African-Americans are only about 13.5 percent of the population.
Childress said 52 percent of all African-American pregnancies end in abortion, and three out of every five African-American women will obtain an abortion.

He estimated 16 million African-American babies have been aborted since the passage of Wade v. Roe in 1973.

Obamacare: B.O.'s lies, fear mongering, reckless spending, and promotion of the culture of death lead to one thing...

Barack Obama appeared in an interview with ABC's Charlie Gibson trying to scare the American people into supporting Obamacare. In the span of 1 minute he spins many lies and uses fear mongering.

If Obama's horrific bill does pass most of his dire predictions will come true and more
. Obama has already spent way too much of taxpayer's money through his wasteful and ineffective stimulus package. Now, he wants us to pay taxes for several years on a plan that will not go into effect until 2014, but that will also allow the federal government to: dictate which doctors we can see, decide how much and what type of health care we need, if any, and determine whether we live or die. Under Obamacare, the federal government will force us to pay for: abortion, death panels, and euthanasia. Under Obamacare, healthcare conscience protection rights will be non-existent. Authentic healthcare, as we have known it in our lifetime, will be non-existent. What's more, I am convinced this horrible plan will drive our country into the black hole of bankruptcy. I personally think B.O. is trying to destroy this country with all the reckless spending he is doing. Anyone with the least bit of common sense knows that you don't keep spending money you don't have to get out of debt. It might be a different story if he had spent the stimulus money on something useful or invested it in the future well-being of this country -- but what he has used it for is to promote the culture of death! Where are the jobs that it was supposed to produce? They are non-existent! If we allow him to keep spending our money to promote his culture of death, what kind of country will this be? Non-existent!

Be scared: Obamacare endangers our life spans

Much of the press coverage of the Democrats' health-care legislation, now fiercely embattled in Congress, focuses on the public option, the actual long-term costs and tax increases, and the amendment barring funding for abortions, but the cold heart of Obamacare is its overpowering of the doctor-patient relationship – eventually resulting in the premature ending of many Americans' lives for being too costly.

To call the dangers of this legislation "death panels" obscures the real-life consequences to Americans, not only the elderly, of a federal government-run health-care bureaucracy. In the Senate bill, for instance, Medicare doctors whose treatments of certain, mostly elderly, patients costs more than a set government figure each year, will be punished by losing part of their own incomes.

Not only Medicare doctors will be monitored for their cost-effectiveness. In the House bill, as Cato Institute's health-care specialist Michael Tanner explains (New York Post, Nov. 8), "111 government agencies, boards, commissions and other bureaucracies – all overseen by a new health-care czar," the commissioner of health-care choices, will keep watch on what the president has called excessive, wasteful health-care expenditures.

Moreover, President Obama has made clear that eventually he desires a U.S. equivalent of the British National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence, a commission that decides which drugs and procedures for patients are within the national budget for health care. The current baseline expenditure for each Briton, according to Michael Tanner, is $44,305 per year.

Jill Stanek: NOW DC rally protesting Stupak amendment fo shizzle fizzles

Twitter works both ways. It gets word out to the right people... and to the wrong people.

Such was the case this morning when I stumbled upon a tweet by National Organization for Women promoting a rally today in downtown DC to protest the House's passage of the Stupak/Pitts Amendment. The plan was to march around the Senate and House office buildings to scare senators. Click to enlarge..

Pro-Life Leaders React to Health Bill Outcome: Caution Outweighs Celebration

Amid praise for the pro-life Stupak amendment's momentous victory in the health care bill Saturday night, a two-pronged fear clearly emerged in the reaction of U.S. pro-life leaders: 1) the immense threats to pro-life values the health bill presents even without federal abortion funding, and, 2) the likelihood that the pro-life amendment itself will vanish in a later version of the bill.

Here is a collection of quotations from key pro-life leaders to give a taste of the pro-life reaction to the Saturday night drama on Capitol Hill:

- Family Research Council president Tony Perkins:  "This is a huge pro-life victory for women, their unborn children, and families. We applaud this House vote which prohibits the abortion industry from further profiting from taxpayers by using government funds to pay for the gruesome act of abortion. ... Unfortunately, H.R. 3962 is a seriously flawed piece of legislation.

Major Prolife Victory: Stupak Amendment Passes

By a solid 240-194 margin, The U.S. House of Representatives on Saturday adopted an extremely important pro-life amendment that will essentially prohibit federal funding of abortion in the health care reform legislation. Folks, this is a huge deal.

This war for the pro-life community is not over. A Senate battle is ahead and so is a potential battle to strip this language out of any eventual House/Senate conference committee but nevertheless what happened on Saturday in the House will go down as a HUGE victory for pro-life Americans.

Planned Parenthood closing shows why PP is pushing nationalized healthcare

From KFBB in MT, October 12:

kalispell pp.jpg
One of the state's 5 Planned Parenthood clinics is closing its doors for good. The announcement came today, as officials say the Kalispell clinic will shut down, due to a decline in patients.

The clinic plans to close on November 20th. Officials say the decision is purely financial, as the Flathead area has been hit especially hard during the economic downturn.

Stacy James of PP of MT says the people are losing their health insurance, postponing care, and turning to public clinics....

"America's Best Friend": Obama Healthcare Cartoon

PRI has released a new video skewering President Obama’s purported health care reform, a video which characterizes the plan as a large, not-terribly-bright dog—well-meaning, but unwittingly destructive.

“This government plan is heavy-handed, out-of-touch, and ultimately not the answer to whatever health care problems are out there,” said Colin Mason, PRI’s Director of Media Production. “This cartoon is intended to illustrate that in a way that we can all relate to:.”

The video was hand-animated by PRI staffers Joseph Powell and Joan Robinson, who stated that they don’t believe there is anything else quite like this on the health-care video scene.

“In addition to being hand-animated by our staff,” said Powell, “we think its quality, simply as a humorous piece, is pretty high. We decided that our primary goal was to point out the utter absurdity of Obama’s plan, and we think this video does this nicely.”

“Obamacare will take a big bite out of health care for seniors,” said Steve Mosher, PRI’s president, “which is why it’s only appropriate to illustrate it as a bumbling canine who does far more harm than good.”

The video is available at PRI’s YouTube page, or by visiting PRI’s web site.

Churches Ask Senate for Abortion Funds

What can I say? It speaks for itself...

Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- A coalition of mainline Protestant churches have authored a letter to members of Congress asking them to make certain the health care bills they are considering contain taxpayer funding for abortions. The letter comes from a group of churches that have long advocated the pro-abortion position.

Under the umbrella of the Religious Institute, the church denominations and more than 1,100 pastors and church staff from the denominations endorsed the letter.

The letter calls abortion a morally justifiable decision and opposed any amendments to the House and Senate bills, which current contain massive abortion funding, to strike that taxpayer-financing.

Already, federal policy unfairly prevents low-income women and federal employees from receiving subsidized [abortions]," Rev. Debra W. Haffner, executive director of the Religious Institute complained.

The letter added that she doesn't want more abortion funding bans in place and complained that additional "restrictions" on abortion funding constitute a "serious moral injustice."

The article goes on, and at the end, names signers. Read the rest here:

BILL DONOHUE: DISHONESTY MARKS HEALTH CARE DEBATE

Catholic League president Bill Donohue addresses the dishonesty that marks the debate over health care reform:

Sen. Max Baucus, chairman of the Senate Finance Committee, is quoted in today’s New York Times commenting on allegations that abortion would be covered in the health care bill: “We are not changing current law.” Similarly, Sen. Olympia Snowe is quoted in the same newspaper as saying, “We want to preserve the status quo on abortion.” Interestingly, there is an editorial in today’s New York Times which calls for total funding of abortion for any reason and at any time during pregnancy, but which also disagrees with what Baucus and Snowe said. Indeed, it explicitly says that Baucus achieved a “compromise” between full funding and no funding.

Here’s what the editorial says: “Health plans could provide abortion coverage provided they used only premium money and co-payments contributed by beneficiaries and kept that money segregated from the subsidy. In every state, there would have to be at least one plan that covers abortions and one that does not.” Thus, the New York Times shows how dishonest Baucus and Snowe are—existing public policy is not anything like that at either the federal or state level. But wait, the Times is also being dishonest when it maintains that by some magical force monies raised from premiums can be “segregated” from the subsidy: money is fungible and that is why the bishops are right to call such schemes a fiction.

It gets worse. Yesterday, Sen. Orrin Hatch introduced an amendment that essentially codifies the status quo, namely, it would ensure that the Hyde Amendment restrictions on federal funds for most abortions remained undisturbed in the proposed health care legislation. And who voted against the status quo? Baucus and Snowe. Consistent in their dishonesty, Baucus and Snowe also voted to kill conscience rights protections for health care workers, all the while maintaining that what they were doing was preserving the status quo. What they were really doing was preserving their place in the Abortion Hall of Shame.

Stop Hyding! Abortion and Health Care Reform

Without authentic language to exclude abortion coverage from health care reform, the federal government will be promoting abortion on-demand.

Don't let the pro-abortion politicians get away with claiming the Hyde Amendment prevents this. It's time they Stop Hyding!

Obamacare: The Perfect Way to Promote and Increase Abortion

"President Obama says he wants fewer abortions. Obamacare would lead to more because they would be federally funded. Rather than have the bill do the dirty work, he would have the Secretary in the regulatory process pull the abortion coverage trigger. Different approach, same result."

"Here is where I come down: A healthy pregnancy is not an illness because the baby is unwanted.  Tens of millions of people should not have to help fund an elective medical procedure not related to protecting physical health that they find morally abhorrent.
